The Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund was established in 1972 by the staff and alumni of camps Ahmek and Wapomeo with the belief that summer camp can be an important experience in a child's life. It can build self-confidence, encourage teamwork, leadership and an appreciation of nature, as well as being just plain fun! It is in this spirit that we eagerly look to share these experiences by helping bridge the gap between camp fees and what the parents can realistically afford.

The funds can be put towards attending any camp that is an accredited member of the Ontario Camping Association or the Canadian Camping Association and is willing to contribute to the Fund by offering a satisfactory fee reduction. In addition to demonstrated financial need, the Fund seeks to place campers from the age of 11 on who have shown leadership qualities in their young lives. Once accepted for sponsorship, the Fund will provide annual financial assistance to the camper for as many years as required.

As the Fund begins to grow in scope, we have begun to increase the number of camps with which we are affiliated. In addition to Ahmek and Wapomeo, the Fund now sponsors children to attend Wanapitei, Sparrow Lake, Kirk, Towhee and Ouareau, our first affiliated camp in Québec. We are proud to be affiliated with the Shader Kids, in memory of Tim Ross, which provides funding for less fortunate kids to develop and experience the outdoors. The Fund continues to expand the number of camps and campers supported through our activities.

Thanks to your generosity and support, we were able to help 28 children enjoy summer camping in Ontario and Québec in 2005. Since its inception in 1972, the T.S.C. Bursary Fund has provided financial assistance to over 800 children, affording each the opportunity to experience personal growth in a magnificent natural setting while attending summer camp in Ontario.
